Looe
One of the most beautiful parts of Cornwall, and home to Typhoon Fishing Trips.

Looe is a traditional Cornish fishing town on the south coast of Cornwall, well known for its working harbour, sandy beaches, and welcoming community.
Split by the River Looe into East and West, it’s the sort of place where fishing has always been at the heart of daily life. Generations of families, mine included, have worked these waters for centuries—catching everything from mackerel and pollack to bass and conger eel. The tides and the seasons still shape the rhythm of the town, and it’s that connection to the sea that keeps Looe such a special place to live and work.
Over the years, Looe has grown into one of Cornwall’s most popular destinations for visitors who want to experience genuine coastal life. You’ll find the narrow streets lined with old cottages, a working fish market down on the quay, and boats heading out every morning to fish the same productive grounds we’ve known for decades. There’s always something going on—whether it’s the fishing boats landing their catch or families enjoying a stroll along the harbour wall with a bag of chips in hand, watching the gulls circle overhead.
For those wanting to get out on the water and see what real sea fishing is like, my boat Typhoon is based right here in Looe. She’s a fast, comfortable vessel built by Cygnus Marine in Falmouth and fully equipped for both serious anglers and complete beginners. We run trips for all abilities—whether you’re after a few mackerel for the barbecue, or hoping to hook into something a bit bigger further offshore. After more than forty years working these waters, I know where to find the fish and how to make sure you have a good, safe day at sea.
Typhoon has plenty of deck space, comfortable seating, and even a cabin with bunks for those who’ve had a long drive down to Cornwall. She’s licensed for up to eleven passengers and powered by a strong John Deere engine that handles the sea beautifully. From wreck and reef trips to family days out, every trip is run with care and experience, and my aim is always the same—to give you a proper day’s fishing in one of the most beautiful parts of Cornwall.
