Reef Fishing Looe

Reef and drift fishing off Looe offers plenty of action, with changing species through the season and good sport for all anglers.

Out on the reef grounds off Looe, we regularly catch pollack, cod, conger eel, dogfish, bream, bass, wrasse and bull huss. There’s always a good mix of fish about, and every trip brings something different depending on the tides and time of year.

Our reef fishing trips run for either 4 or 8 hours, usually departing around 07:30–09:00 in the morning and again at 13:00–14:00 in the afternoon, depending on the day and conditions.

Once we leave Looe harbour, it only takes around 20–30 minutes to reach the rough ground where we start fishing — the reefs lie one to two miles offshore.

The best of the reef fishing tends to be from mid-May through to the end of September, when the weather’s fair and the fish are feeding well, but we often find good sport outside those months too.
