The Typhoon is a fast fishing vessel, skippered and owned by me, Phil Curtis with MCA 60 mile and licensed to carry 11 passengers.
Typhoon was built by Cygnus marine in Falmouth in 2004. The name of vessel comes from the mould that Cygnus designed and we liked the name so much we asked Cygnus if could name her Typhoon. Cygnus were very happy with this.
Most of the instruments and smaller electronics are neatly located in an overhead console and well protected. This leaves most of the dash free. She is powered by a D12 Volvo Penta 12 litre electronic engine.
Typhoon has a trawler type wheelhouse. This has been specified to allow a generous and comfortable five seater dinette table to port with the helm and galley to starboard. Also in the cabin are two comfortable bunkbeds for anyone who need a rest, maybe after a long drive to Cornwall. There is a full size easy to clean WC on deck.
Typhoon has a big deck area with bench seating and is a very stable platform to fish from due to the amazing cathedral shaped hull design. Typhoon is not just an angling boat but a commercial fishing vessel in winter, fishing with nets and hand-lining for mackerel. She doesn’t stop all year round. She’s a multipurpose vessel.
